2024 Year-End Summary — Financials

From Author

Dear Readers,

Thank you for coming here!

Here is a quick summary of our 2024 from the perspective of financials.

Overall, 2024 is pretty ok for us.

  1. We had pretty good TNW increment, above 40/40, but still have a lot of room before hitting 80/40.
  2. Our investment portfolio recovered reasonably well in the year, even though we are still in the red. Of course I could have done much better if I had just sticked to the simple strategy.
  3. Our flat had good appreciation as well.
  4. In comparison, our employment income, especially mine, did not perform as well.
  5. Interestingly, our total net-worth in terms of Gold is lower than Dec 2023. So measured in Gold, we are even poorer after a full-year's hard work.

Going into 2025, I need to sort out a few key items that could potentially move the needle big time, but overall I am hopeful.

We will continue the march towards 80/40 in 2025!

Last but not least, a huge thank you to all my readers! Wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous 2025!

Dear Readers,

Thank you for coming here!

Time flies!! 2024 is almost gone! Looking forward to 2025!

Here comes the snapshot of our Total Net-Worth for Dec 2024.

Net-Worth increase from last month: +105K SGD, +0.93KG Gold

The increase was a combination of salary and bonus, stock market recovery, appreciation of our flat and exchange rate.

Our net worth, in terms of Gold, had another positive change, partly due to the slight decrease of Gold price.

Investment: -1.84% annualized return, incl. dividend

For the 1st time since Mid 2021, our annualized investment loss has reduced to within -2%. We have seem the light at the end of the tunnel.

Since we have low confidence of our ability on active investing, we will stick to patience and let time work its wonders.

This of course means that the return of our portfolio will depend on the market performance. But secretly, I hope we can break into positive return territory within 2025.

Also stay tuned for the year-end summary which is coming soon.

Till next time!
