Dear Readers,

Thank you for coming here!

Hope you all had a great New Year and break.

Here is another update on our Net-Worth.

Net-Worth increase from last month: 42K SGD, 0.45KG Gold

The increase was mainly from my freelancer pay from last year and CPF contribution and interests at the end of last year.

Even though much of the increase is attributed to last year, it is a good start for me to hit 40/40 goal. Hope this continues :)

Our portfolio continued to drop. Feeling completely powerless and clueless. Will just hold till it dies or rebounds.

Investment: -9.84% annualized return, incl. dividend

My portfolio again hit a new low this month.

After a few years of investment, -10% return rate is nothing short of embarrassing and painful.

Maybe I should give it up all together.

Till next time!

Monthly Net-Worth Update — Dec 2021

Dear Readers,

We are officially ending 2021.

And this will be the last update for 2021.

Our net-worth increased, but investment hit a new low. As a result, our net-worth increased less than 2020 during most of which I was not even working.

Ok. I have now witnessed the power of Capital from my own experience…

Below is the usual summary.

Net-Worth increase from last month: 42K SGD, 0.94KG Gold

The increase was due to “non-routine” income:

  • My salary from last month + some encashment
  • My wife’s bonus
  • My freelancer pay

Luckily, the income was sufficient to off-set the drop in my portfolio, to at least end the year with a “positive” note.

The avg monthly increment of Net-Worth for 2021 is 13.6k SGD.

This is not only far from my 40/40 goal, but also lower than 2020, thanks to the huge loss of my portfolio.

Investment: -9.31% annualized return, incl. dividend

My portfolio hit a new low this month in the absolute value. And the annualized return rate was almost reaching the lowest point as well…

The loss pretty much eliminated my income from hard work for this whole year.

So be careful with stocks.

Happy holidays! And till next time!

Monthly Net-Worth Update — Jun 2021

Photo by Katie Harp on Unsplash

Dear Readers,

Thank you for coming here!

So it is end of Jun and half of 2021 is gone…

Here comes another monthly update!

After a seriously bleeding May, I am happy that we got some recovery in our portfolio.

Net-Worth increase from last month: 50K SGD, 1.34KG Gold

It is a pretty good month for us.

Just looking at the net-worth increase, this is the best month in this year, though the number is very close to what we had in Jan and Feb, when we were doing really well in our portfolio.

Half of the increase was from the portfolio recovery. After the bleeding May, this was almost bound to happen.

The other half was from our salary, CPF, insurance refund, and also another payment of Freelancer pay.

I continue my freelancing work this year and get paid for my work. At the same time, the money will also count towards the money I was “owned” last year.

Not entirely fair but I guess this is the best arrangement I could get now.

The work is even enjoyable sometimes. And it is good to keep practicing my consulting skills.

Since this marks the middle point of this year, I also did a quick look at my average net-worth increase for H1 2021.

It averages 24K, far away from my 40–40 goal.

Still long way to go!

Investment: 4.83% annualized return, incl. dividend

Good recovery.

Our portfolio is still in the red.

We will be looking forward to further recoveries.

There are some concerns on the market out there. I really do not know. I will just hang on.

Lets see what happens.

Happy investing!

Till next time!
